Lady Eagles Steamroll the Lady Mounties
Lehman and Shaw carry Eagles over Mounties
The Lady Eagles brought home a high scoring, blowout 85-54 win against the Philipsburg-Osceola Mounties on Wednesday night. The Lady Eagles energy and confidence were the main factors that propelled them to victory.
Junior Sydney Shaw lead all scorers with 24 points including 4 threes. Shaw also, contributed down low adding 12 rebounds. Senior Emily Lehman followed suit with 20 points and was a dominating force down low with 20 rebounds.
Sophomore Kelsey Johnson also poured in 11 points and was the third Lady Eagle to score in double figures.
Junior Reilly Ronan and sophomore Mia Kosoglow, also were involved in the scoring spree adding 8 points each.
“I was very happy with the energy we played with. Offensively, I thought once we hit a few shots we got confidence and played with it,” said Coach Rhoades.
Tyrone had nine players record points, which showed team selflessness and the ability to move the ball. Also, that the team has a very deep bench and many reliable players they can count on during crunch time.
“We rebounded very well and had many girls step up and score for us. That is exactly what we need in order to have a successful season,” said senior Payton Wagner who also dominated the boards.
The Lady Eagles also, performed well on the defensive side of the ball holding PO’s top scoring junior Halle Herrington to only 5 made field goals.
With the impressive victory the Lady Eagles move to 1-1 on the season with a 1-0 record in the Mountain League.
The Lady Eagles looks to keep the momentum going when they take on Mountain League rival Central Dragons tonight in Tyrone. Junior Varsity tips off at 6:00 p.m with Varsity to follow at 7:30.
