Lady Eagles Softball: 2017-2018 Season Preview
Tyrone Lady Eagle softball looks forward to upcoming season with a goal of improving their record.
“I think that this season will be one that shows all of the hard work, and I see good things coming out of this softball season,” said senior Emily Hamer.
Last year, Lady Eagles finished the season with a record of 2-15. In the upcoming season, the Lady Eagles are planning to compete at a higher level than last year. Tyrone left the season with losing a game by one run to Bellefonte, Bald Eagle, Penns Valley, and Bellwood. The Lady Eagles are planning to return with the same intensity with how they left the season, and to beat the teams the they came close to last year.
As a team this year, the softball team has set goals for them to achieve. The team wants to accomplish more this year than last year with their new sense of urgency.
Over the summer, the softball team stayed together and competed with higher level teams. They left the summer season off with a winning record, and plan to continue this as the season approaches. The players want to have a new winning tradition in softball. They hope their hard work will pay off from the fall and summer.
“I’m excited to see how much we improved from last season,” said senior Emily Lehman.
The returning letter winners and starters for this year are seniors Emily Baran, Grace Gensimore, Emily Hamer, Emily Lehman, juniors Arian Hicks, Megan Tepsic, sophomores Cate Baran, Winnie Grot, Allysan Jones, and Callie Maceno.
The Lady Eagles also have 6 incoming freshman this year that look to make to immediate difference, Vanessa Beck, Madison Coleman, Karly Diebold, Lyndsey Fleck, Jenna Kemp, and Ella Pearson.
The Lady Eagles first game is on March 29th at 4:30 pm in the Harry Sicker Complex.
