It was a first for the seniors on the Lady Eagle soccer team on Wednesday, beating Bald Eagle 3-1, which they haven’t been able to do since their junior high 2016-2017 season.

Senior defender Mackenzie Latchford felt very accomplished on the team’s win.

“The Bald Eagle game was a huge win for us, especially since it was our senior year. This has never happened before and it felt so great to finally beat them,” said Latchford.

Twenty minutes into the game, Tyrone’s first goal was made by junior Chloe LaRosa. The play started within the midfield when senior Lindsey Parks lifted the ball over the defensive line and landed it in front of LaRosa on the right side of the field. LaRosa was then able to take a few touches to the center of the field and score into the bottom right corner of the net.

“We haven’t won against them since junior high. It felt good to finally beat them again,” said Parks.

Junior Avalyn Moore went on to add a goal with an assist from LaRosa to end the first half. LaRosa was able to cross the ball in front of the goal for Moore to one touch in as she crashed the net.

Bald Eagle’s lone goal was made by senior Falen McHenry, but that motivated the Lady Eagles defense to keep pushing. The Lady Eagles defense picked themselves up and shut Bald Eagle down keeping the score 3-1.

“We all did what we had to do and played together as a team. We never gave up from the start and I’m very proud of how we played,” said senior Natalie Saltsgiver.

LaRosa went unassisted with the last goal, which ended the game with a Tyrone two-goal lead over Bald Eagle. She was able to make some moves around Bald Eagles defensive players and shoot in the left corner of the net.
