On September 18, the Tyrone Lady Eagles beat the Shanksville Vikings 6-1 on Senior Night.
Senior Nicole Ramsey defeated Rayleigh Edwards 8-0.
Ramsey is a four-year senior, and started to learn the game of tennis in eighth grade. Her future plans are to attend Slippery Rock University to major in early education and to continue running track.
“From these past four years, my favorite memory would probably have to be when Aliyah Smith bought chili when coach Randy wanted to leave,” Ramsey said.
Junior Ezri Bumgarner defeated Myia Ferguson 8-1.
Junior Jocelyn Diehl defeated Katy Kovacs 8-5.
Junior Cassidy Fleck defeated Annabella Becker 8-1.
Seniors Emily Christofer and Chase Yaniello defeated Hayden Sheeler and Riley Shaffer 8-2.
Christofer is a three-year senior who started learning the game of tennis at the end of her freshman year. Her future plans are to attend the Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center for phlebotomy.
“My favorite memory is the van rides with my friends before and after the matches,” Christofer said.
Yaniello is a first-year senior, and her future plans are to attend Penn State University for international business and hospitality management.
“My favorite memory is winning my first [expedition] match at Hollidaysburg with Amyra [Snyder]!” Yaniello said.
Seniors Amyra Snyder and Aliyah Smith lost their match to Mia Fairman and Halie Zelenski 8-0.
Snyder is a first-year senior, and her future plans are to attend South Hills College for their medical sonography program.
“My favorite memory throughout my senior year playing tennis is when Chase [Yaniello] and I won our first [expedition] match,” Snyder said.
Smith is a second-year senior. Her future plans are to attend a four-year college to be a veterinarian.
“My favorite memory is the karaoke sessions we partake in after away matches in the van,” Smith said.
Seniors Cadence Ball and Jenna Watson defeated Cadence Ferko and Ella Duppstadt 8-2.
Ball is a first-year senior and has enjoyed learning the tactics of tennis. Her future plans are to attend a four-year college, majoring in either veterinary medicine or ultrasound sonography.
“My favorite memory from this season is when I taught Randy to do the griddy,” Ball said.
Watson is a four-year senior and became interested in tennis her freshman year. Her future plans are to attend Penn State University to be a history professor.
“My favorite memory was when we played Shanksville away and Charlie [Murphy] and I won our doubles match,” Watson said.
Ramsey and Bumgarner will be participating in the District Singles being held on September 22nd.
