The Lady Eagles pulled out a 3-0 win against Cambria Heights on Monday, October 16th.
Tyrone started off strong and they were prepared to pull out a win. They got the advantage when Senior Annie Bardell chipped a ball over Cambria Heights’s defensive line. Junior Briley Campbell made a run and the ball landed right at her feet. She took a shot and it skipped right past the keeper.
The game continued on and the Lady Eagles kept up the intensity. Minutes later, a penalty was called after a shove from Cambria Heights and Tyrone was awarded a penalty kick. Freshman Allie Blaska took the kick. It curved perfectly into the top right corner, high enough that the keeper couldn’t get her fingers on it. This ended the half and left the score 2-0.
The second half started and Tyrone kept up the pressure. They were prepared to keep the game as a shutout. They progressed down the field, constantly attacking Cambria Heights’s defensive line. At minute 70, a ball from senior captain Lainey Quick landed at the feet of Campbell. She took a shot wide and it went into the back of the net, giving Tyrone their third point of the game.
The rest of the half played out and although Cambria Heights tried their best to get on the board, they could not get past the Tyrone defensive line. The Lady Eagles won 3-0, giving Freshman Pyper Sparklin her second shut out of the season.
After this win, everyone was very pleased, including head coach Mike Sparacino. “I was very happy with the team’s performance. Our passing, communication and defensive shape were excellent. We were able to put consistent pressure on their defense and did a great job of finishing our chances,” said Sparacino.
This win took the Lady Eagles record to 6-10.
