Lady Eagles Out Serve the Lady Bison
After a big win over Huntington, the Lady Eagles hit the ground running and did not look back when the Clearfield Bison came into town Thursday night. The girls sent the Bison out to pasture in three sets.
The Lady Eagles started off slow in the first set, but quickly gained the lead off the service line. Every time the ball would come over, the terminal Lady Eagle hitters would end the rally with a big kill. The ending score of the first set was 25-15.
“We came out slow, but we never gave up. I think the biggest thing we need to work on is coming out with a purpose to dominate the other team,” said junior Courtney Williams.
The second set certainly did not start off slow thanks to junior Mattie Cherry who went back to serve and scored 15 points alone before junior Miranda Goodman went in to serve and scored many points as well. After a solid start to set two, the Lady Eagles let the Lady Bison score only 7 points before ending the set. The score of the second set was 25-7.
Senior Ebonee Rice said, “This game showed our potential for level of play when out confidence and attitude is up. It showed that we are able to get on top of teams and stay on top of them. I think as a team we need to work on having the same kind of aggressive mindset for every game no matter who’s playing on the other side of the net.”
In the third set, the Lady Eagles did not let up, but did have a slower start on the passing end. The Lady Eagles did pull through with the win with a score of 25-18.
Tyrone Volleyball is now 5-2 overall and 5-2 in the Mountain League.
The Lady Eagles next play Philipsburg away on 10/1 for the second half of their season.
