Lady Eagles Lose to BEA

Ian Gibbons

Bree Paul

The Tyrone Lady Eagles took a tough four-point loss against Bald Eagle Area, 52-48, after a big disadvantage at the foul line and some cold outside shooting. The game was being called very tight and Tyrone’s lack of effectiveness at the foul gave the Lady Eagles trouble, while BEA capitalized on their free point opportunities.

BEA made 24-of-45 free throws, while Tyrone converted on just 7-of-21.

Abigail Hoover from BEA scored 8 of her 23 points from the line.

Freshman Alayna Woomer led the Lady Eagles with 16 points, and senior Kayelin Gibbons was close behind with 13.

Gibbons is a big threat because of her finishing ability in the paint, so BEA keyed on her throughout the game. Taking Gibbons out of the game allows for others to be open, but Tyrone had trouble capitalizing on their outside shots.

The Lady Eagles were only able to sink three 3s, coming from junior Bree Paul, freshman Claire Lehman, and Woomer.

“I think we could have played a lot better. We came into the game thinking we were going to blow them out, but having Kayelin in the post getting triple-teamed didn’t help us. Our outside shooters weren’t having a good shooting game either, but we have to battle back and keep playing as hard as we can every game,” said Woomer.

Tyrone’s record is now 11-8, while BEA improved to 9-11.
