Lady Eagles Lock Down Saint Joes
The Lady Eagles hot hand from three point range staying blazing hot on Saturday helping them defeat Saint Joseph’s handily by a score of 49-24. Tyrone was led by senior Sydney Shaw who scored a game high 15 points. The freshman duo of Stephanie Ramsey and Jaida Parker also added 11 points.
Tyrone came out and knocked down shots early and often in the first quarter. Their defense was another story of the game as they shut down St. Joes. The combination of their on-point shooting and defense allowed Tyrone to take a strong 20-6 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Tyrone followed up their impressive first quarter with an arguably better one. Their offense stayed red hot while their defense shut down and scoring chance St. Joe’s attempted. The first half came to a close with Tyrone leading 31-8.
St. Joe’s managed to outscore the Lady Eagles in the third quarter, but with the way Tyrone dominated the first half there was no hope for a comeback. The third quarter came to an end with the Lady Eagles still on top 40-21.
In the fourth quarter the Lady Eagles shut down defense was back in full effect as they held St. Joes to only 3 points. The Lady Eagles offense may have only scored 9 points in the final quarter but their defense allowed them to keep a cushioned lead.
With the victory on Saturday Tyrone’s record moves to 16-5 on the year. The Lady Eagles take on non-conference opponent Hollidaysburg tomorrow at home. The game is senior night and also the final game of the season as they look to keep rolling heading into playoffs.
