The Lady Eagles struggled on Monday against the undefeated Bishop Guilfoyle Lady Mauraders, losing 6-1 in Altoona.
The Lady Eagles came out fast and were able to hold off the Lady Mauraders’ attack for the first 15 minutes, but junior Emma Marasco opened the scoring for BG with a goal at the 28:29 mark.
Guilfoyle scored three goals in each half, with Marasco earning a hat trick in the first half, and senior Delaney Lechner scoring all three BG goals in the second half.
However, with 12:14 left in the second half, Tyrone sophomore Cadence Berry scored for the Lady Eagles to put Tyrone on the board and avoid the shutout.
Berry’s goal against the 8-0 Lady Marauders’ was the first goal scored against BG’s starting goalkeeper and defense this season.
“We played hard but got unlucky,” said Jaysa Carns.
