Lady Eagles Fall Short to P-O
The Lady Eagles got strong pitching from starter Cate Baran but came up short at the plate in a 3-0 shutout loss to Philipsburg.
All of P-O’s runs came in the fourth inning. Maddie Lucas of Philipsburg started the fourth with a double to the right fielder Emily Baran, and advanced to third on the throw. Kameryn Harris then walked to put runners on the corners. A pinch runner then came in for Harris and stole seconds base, but Lucas advanced home to make the score 1-0 P-O. Hannah Thompson laid a bunt single down, and the runner advanced to third. Rachel Simpson then drove in both the runners to make the score 3-0 P-O at the top of the fourth inning.
The Lady Eagles had five hits, including two doubles by senior Grace Gensimore. Cate Baran also had two hits and Ally Jones added one against P-O starter Kylie Adams.
Baran ended the game with 12 strikeouts and walked one.
The Lady Eagles play there next two games away at Bald Eagle on April 12th and at Bellwood on April 14th.
