The 2023 Lady Eagles Volleyball team is off to a 3-1 start this season, with their only loss coming to Penns Valley in 5 sets.
The Eagles put up a strong fight against the Lady Rams, taking them to a fifth set, but the set ended in a 15-8 loss for the Eagles.
“I think our loss after Penns Valley was very eye-opening to us to see what we need to do personally and as a whole things we need to work on,” senior Madelyn Rockwell said. “I feel confident that this loss will be taken as a learning experience for all of us, and only help us for the rest of the season.”
Tyrone notched the latest win last night at home against the Clearfield Bison, taking three out of the four sets.
Tyrone’s defense was outstanding. With their front row dominating at the net, the Lady Eagles were able to sweep the win from Clearfield and solidified themselves as strong competitors in the Laurel Highlands conference.
In their first game against Huntingdon on August 29th, the Lady Eagles took three of four sets to beat the Lady Bearcats.
Two days later the Eagles beat the Central Dragons on Tyrone’s home court in four sets.
The loss at Penns Valley came on September 5th.
In their upcoming week of matches, on Tuesday, September 12, Tyrone is set to face the currently undefeated Philipsburg Mounties and their tough lineup, which is highlighted by Division 1 recruit Reese Hazelton.
They then will take on the winless Chestnut Ridge Lions on September 14th.
Head Coach Alesha Weaver expressed her enthusiasm about her team’s start.
“These girls are working really hard so I can see us doing very well this season,” Weaver said. “They all have great chemistry and energy on and off the court, so I’m really excited to see how this season goes.”
