Lady Eagles Defeat Red Raiders
Tyrone freshman Alayna Woomer scored a game-high 21 points to help Tyrone defeat Bellefonte, 47-33. Senior Kayelin Gibbons added 18 more for the Lady Eagles, who moved to 12-9 on the season.
The Lady Eagles started off hot in the first half leading 28-16 at the break.
Gibbons finished the first quarter with only 4 points, but Woomer stepped up and knocked down some threes behind the arc to keep Tyrone in the lead.
The Red Raiders are physically big, and several Bellefonte players towered over Gibbons, but Tyrone was able to adjust and find the open player.
After the half, the Red Raiders learned how to stop the perimeter, but in doing so gave up Tyrone’s main strength, the paint. Gibbons then took over the scoring and the senior and freshman duo combined for 39 of Tyrone’s 47 points.
The Lady Eagles will take on Penns Manor Monday, February 13th, at home for their last regular season game.
