The Lady Eagles secured their second win of the season in three sets against Bishop Guilfoyle on Thursday, September 11th. This win brings the Eagles record to 2-4.
“I think we did a good job at playing as a team instead of individuals, and not getting the little mistakes get to us,” said senior middle hitter Elise Volders, “I think this game will be a good start to a winning streak for us.”
The first set started off a little slow. The Lady Eagles were struggling to keep the ball under control and got a little lost in the chaos. In spite of that, they fought hard and battled against the Lady Marauders’ scrappy defense to win the set 25-20.
The second set was close again. The Eagles stayed strong at the net with senior outside hitter Rylan Crowell ending the night with 13 kills, but Bishop Guilfoyle was picking up everything on defense. The Marauders stayed close with the Eagles, but they pulled away with a close victory, and the Lady Eagles won the set 25-23.
The Eagles came out strong in the third set with senior setter Sidney Goodwin going on a service run that earned her 14 total service points and four aces for the night. With a large lead, the Eagles stayed up on defense, and senior libero Abby Anthony finished the game with 20 digs.
Their determination paid off, and the Eagles won the third and final set 25-10.
“I am really happy we were able to win and I hope that we can stay on a winning streak,” said Anthony.
The Lady Eagles will face the Bellefonte Lady Raiders at home on Tuesday, September 16th.
