Lady Eagles Slay the Dragons Once Again

The Lady Eagles first home game is this Thursday at 7:15.

The Lady Eagles took on Central at the dragon’s lair. Since it is the middle of the season, the Lady Eagles have began to replay the teams they have faced previously. This was the second time the Lady Eagles played and slayed the Dragons.

In the first set, the Lady Eagles came out slow but made up for it at the service line. The girls won with a score of 25-20.

The second set however, the girls came out with more fire and energy to take on the Dragons. The Lady Eagles took the set 25-17.

“We were definitely played a much improved Central team that made us work together to win in three sets. Our aggressive serving and good offense helped us overcome their improved offense,” said Assistant Head Coach Bob Oberhiem.

In the third set, the Lady Eagles served, passed, and hit extremely well to shut down the Dragons 25-16. “At the end of the set, we started to put all the pieces together and work as a team. We served harder and put the pressure on the Lady Dragons to win by 9 and to take the overall match,” said sophomore Makenna Bauer.

“It wasn’t a very clean match for us tonight. We never found a groove and were scrambling to find a rhythm, but we were good enough to get a win. We play the first team in the district on Thursday, Bald Eagle, in front of our home crowd. It should be a good one,” said Head Coach Mike Kraft.

Senior Kylee Gooding lead with 11 kills, 7 aces, and 11 service points. Junior Brianna Foy had 7 kills and 4 service points. Sophomore Courtney Williams had 6 kills and 5 blocks while sophomore Makenna Bauer had 9 service points. Sophomore Mattie Cherry racked up 22 assists and 7 service points. Miranda Goodman had 10 service points as well.

The Lady Eagle next face Bald Eagle Area at home. This will be a huge match for the Lady Eagles because Bald Eagle Area is one of the top 4 teams in the state. JV starts at 6pm and Varsity at 7pm.
