Juniors Rhodes and Isenberg selected for District Chorus Festival

Two TAHS students will move forward to the PMEA District Chorus Festival

Tyrone juniors Collin Rhodes and Sarah Isenberg have been selected to participate in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association District Chorus Festival in January.

Nine Tyrone students travelled to Conemaugh Township High School to audition for PMEA District Chorus.  The other students who auditioned were Shania Kennedy, Sarah Diller, Haley Butina, Gina Gavazzi, Molly LaPorte, Jake Makdad and Zac Slate.

These students auditioned by their voice part, and competed against others singing their part. Each voice part was assigned an excerpt from the song to sing a capella for three judges who were hidden behind black screens.

“After the audition, I was pretty shaky, and I didn’t think I was going to make it,” said Isenberg, “When I learned that I made it, I actually screamed.”

“I worked really hard to learn the music, and I am glad I have the opportunity to go,” said Rhodes.

“I was proud of all of the students for having the courage to audition,” said Tyrone choir director Laura Harris.

The festival will be held in January 2015.
