Jason Schopp heads to Edinboro for wrestling
Jason Schopp, four year letter winner and District Six Champion for the Golden Eagle wrestling team will attend Edinboro University in the fall.
Schopp will join his brother A.J. on the nationally ranked Fighting Scots wrestling squad. His major is yet undecided.
Edinboro’s wrestling program is one of the best in the nation, consistently placing higher than many large state universities at the NCAA wrestling championships.
“I feel Jason will do very well at Edinboro. He is a dedicated scholar/athlete and his high ability to focus on his goals will ensure his success. I think Jason made an excellent choice in choosing Edinboro” says head Tyrone Wrestling Coach Blair Packer.
Schopp hopes to accomplish many goals in wrestling at Edinboro; one is to be an All-American or an NCAA Champion.
“His ultimate contribution is his legacy of setting goals, focusing on them and accomplishing what he set out to do” said Coach Packer, “I wish him the very best in all he endeavors to do.”
“It’s out in the country, there’s almost no distractions so I won’t get side tracked when doing school work, and I like the people there,” said Schopp about why he chose Edinboro.
What Schopp will miss most from Tyrone wrestling is the people, his team, the coaches, and the fans. His best memory at Tyrone is winning the District 6 title.
“I’ll miss Jason’s serious attitude toward wrestling as well as his leadership on and off the mat. He was a model student/athlete” said Coach Packer.
