The Tyrone indoor track team competed at one of the largest indoor track meets in the state, the Kevin Dare Invitational at Horace Ashenfelter Indoor Track on the Penn State University campus on Saturday, January 11th.
The meet is run by the Penn State track and field team and drew more than 1,200 athletes from 50 high schools. Teams from as far away as New York and Maryland made the drive to State College to compete.
Tyrone brought eight athletes to the meet. They were sophomores Sarah Chichester and Caleb Whitby, juniors Nicole Ramsey and Alex Brumbaugh, and seniors Seth Hoover, Austin Lucas, Klayton Moore, and Aiden Detwiler.
The top-placing athlete for Tyrone was junior Nicole Ramsey, who placed 10th in the triple jump with a jump of 33-6.25.
In the 60-meter dash, sophomore Sarah Chichester placed 21st running a time of 8.34, and Ramsey placed 25th with a time of 8.39.
In the 200-meter dash, Chichester placed 28th with a time of 27.87, and Ramsey placed 48th with a time of 29.49.
In the long jump, Ramsey placed 16th with a jump of 15-6.50.
For the boys, the top finishers were senior Klayton Moore and sophomore Caleb Whitby.
Moore placed 35th in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.61, and Whitby also placed 35th in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.45.
Senior Seth Hoover placed 46th in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.56.
In the 800-meter run, junior Alex Brumbaugh placed 43rd with a time of 2:13.93, and senior Aiden Detwiler placed 45th with a time of 2:14.32.
In the 200-meter dash, senior Austin Lucas placed 54th with a time of 25.49.
In the long jump, Whitby placed 37th for the boys with a jump of 17-4.25.
