The Tyrone Golden Eagles traveled down the road to BD Acres for the St. Francis Invitational on September 13th. While it’s called the St. Francis Invitational, it is hosted just 10 minutes away from Tyrone at BD Acres farm. The team ran on the same course St. Francis uses for their college meets.
Even though it was early in the morning, it was hot, with the mercury hitting 80 degrees by the start time. While this did make the times slower than usual, the team still performed well.
The top finisher for the Golden Eagles was a middle school runner. Sage Harbst, who placed 10th in the junior high girls division.
BOYS:
For the boys’ race, there were 126 runners in total. Tyrone’s boys’ team suffered a little because Alex Brumbaugh, their top runner, was out do to illness.
However, this didn’t stop the Golden Eagles, and the team still gave it their all as they placed seventh as a team.
Finishing just 3 seconds apart, senior Nate Erickson and freshman Brenson Davis got 26th and 27th. Erickson ran a 19:53, and Davis ran a 19:56. They were racing against each other almost the entire race, and it came down to the wire, with Erickson just barely avoiding Davis.
Freshman Jonah Wicker was Tyrone’s third, finishing with a time of 21:04 in 46th place. Just 19 seconds behind Wicker was sophomore Gavin Brasher, who ran a 21:23, claiming 51st.
Sophomore Nick Sutt was Tyrone’s fifth runner, running a time of 22:57 in 73rd place. Rounding out Tyrone’s top seven runners were Carter Gwinn and Aidan Luther.
GIRLS:
There were 113 runners in the girls’ race. Just like the boys, the girls were also missing their best runner, Ella Savino, so the team’s score suffered. The Lady Eagles placed 11th.
Freshman Addison Davis was Tyrone’s first runner, running a 27:24, earning 69th. Freshman Hallie Troutman ran a 28:28, placing 78th. Sophomores Kiana Gardner, Lillian Ammerman, and Sophia Raneri got 83rd, 85th, and 89th. Laney Corl finished out the girls’ team with a 91st-place finish.
