Hot Start Leads to Win Over Penns Valley
Tyrone started hot and held on in the second half for a 10-point 55-45 victory over visiting Penns Valley on Friday, January 20.
Tyrone went on a 22-9 run in the first quarter and was able to protect the early lead for the remained of the contest.
Sophomore Andrew Escala had an exciting moment at the end of the second quarter when he hit a buzzer-beater to put the Golden Eagles up 31-17 at halftime.
After the break, Penns Valley did come back to life. Tyrone started to slow down in transition allowing Penns Valley to gain 16 points to Tyrone’s 11 in the third quarter.
Tyrone was able to keep pace in the fourth, outscoring the Mounties 13-12 to protect their lead.
Senior Zac LeGars and junior Dravyn Crowell each added 12 points leading Tyrone in scoring.
They also got 10 points from senior Ross Gampe.
Fletcher Ironside led the Rams with 17 points.
