Tyrone defeats Bellefonte 53-6
The Tyrone Golden Eagle football team delivered a crushing 53-6 victory against the Bellefonte Red Raiders on Friday, September 27.
James Oliver led the Golden Eagles with 155 rushing yards and four touchdowns. Coach Steve Gutoff credited the line play or freshman Colby Pannebaker, sophomore Nick Bonsell, junior Andrew Bartos, and senior Ryan Cox. “The offensive line blocked really well, and they are coming along each game,” said Guthoff.
Senior quarterback Erik Wagner also had a great game. Wagner was 5-13, throwing two touchdowns to James Oliver and Nick Getz.
“Erik is making really good decisions before, and after the play,” said Guthoff, “He seems to be more comfortable this year, he has a year of experience under his belt, and is always getting better.”
Guthoff was proud of his team, but when asked areas that need improvement he replied, “Everything. We always need to get better.”
Tyrone is set to square-off next against Bald Eagle at home. Guthoff didn’t give away his exact game plan, but he said it will come down to execution of plays, blocking, defensive line, and secondary.
