Golden Eagles Skid Continues
The Tyrone Golden Eagles football team suffered another heartbreaking defeat Friday as they fell to Penns Valley 13-7. The Golden Eagle defense played well forcing 4 turnovers but were unable to come out on top.
Tyrone opened the scoring in the first quarter on a 1 yard run by Zac Albright will a little over 3 minutes remaining in the quarter. The first quarter came to an end with Tyrone on top 7-0.
Tyrone held strong in the second quarter holding the Penns Valley offense silent, but their offense was unable to add onto their lead. Penns Valley knotted the game up right before the half on a 1 yard run by Aaron Tobias.
Tyrone killed what little time was remaining, ending of the first half tied 7-7 sending both teams into the locker room looking to do anything to gain an advantage over the other.
Both teams came out of the locker room in the second half and stonewalled in the third quarter; they came out strong but were unable to score and take the advantage over the other.
Penns Valley scored the lone touchdown of the second half with 33 seconds left on a 1 yard from Ryan Ripka. After missing the extra point Penns Valley took a 13-7 lead.
In the fourth quarter the Tyrone defense continued to halt the Penns Valley drives but two drives inside the Penns Valley 20 yard line were prematurely ended by interceptions.
With the loss the golden Eagles fell to 4-5 on the season continuing a 5 game skid after winning their first 4 games to open the season. They look to bounce back this Friday as they welcome the Huntingdon Bearcats to Gray Field for senior night.
