Tyrone started out strong against Penns Valley but the Golden Eagles could not keep the early momentum and fell to the Rams 7-3 on Monday, October 19 at Penns Valley.

Senior Kelton Raabe scored in the first seven minutes of the game putting Tyrone in the lead 1-0.

With this strong start, Tyrone’s intention was to maintain ball possession. However, it wasn’t long before Penns Valley tied the game on a through-ball that found its way past the Tyrone defense.

Tyrone played tough through the fisrt half but was unable to maintain possession in the offensive zone and Penns Valley added another goal and took a 2-1 lead into the half.

Going back onto the field to play another forty minutes, Tyrone initially improved offensively and was able to move the ball past midfield early but Penns Valley’s offense was soon able to wear Tyrone down, putting four goals on the board to make it 5-1 halfway through the second half.

Bellwood senior Alex Taylor finally responded for the Eagles, making the score 5-2, but Tyrone’s defense was not able to keep them in the game.

“For Penns Valley to score four goals on us is absolutely unacceptable,” said outside mid Eric Sims. “Both our defense and our midfield needed to step up their game.”

Tyrone managed to get one more goal on Penns Valley thanks to senior Mason Thomas.

Thomas got it around twenty to twenty-five yards away from the goal and managed to sink it in the goal. Penns Valley’s goalkeeper was able to get his hands on it, but Mason’s powerful, punt-like kick, was too much for the keeper.

Tyrone let in two more goals and the game ended 7-3, Penns Valley.
