Golden Eagles Fall to the Bald Eagles
With the Golden Eagles beating Bald Eagle earlier in the season, they were hoping for an easy win to inch them closer to playoffs this season. Overall, the Golden Eagles played a very tough game, but they couldn’t come out on top, losing 2-1.
The loss was costly because it means that in order to reach the playoffs the Golden Eagles will need to win all of their last three games.
“The game was an important one. With the playoffs in the near future, it was imperative that we went out and had a good performance. The end result could’ve been better, but we fought hard, took positives and moved on to the next one,” said assistant coach Alex Bartlett.
Tyrone started the half with the ball up in their offensive zone for the majority of the half, but couldn’t come up with a goal.
When Bald Eagle got control of the ball for the first time, the Tyrone defense wasn’t ready for their attack. Bald Eagle was able to dribble through the Tyrone defense and put the ball in the net.
After this goal, Tyrone was able to keep the ball up in their offensive half yet again and was able to do something with the ball. Owen Shaulis dribbled down the sideline and centered to forward Andrew Pearson, who buried the ball in the back of the net, tying the game at 1-1.
Close to the end of the half, Bald Eagle was able to take the ball down the sideline and into Tyrone’s defensive half. Bald Eagle was able to send the ball across the field to an unmarked player and they were able to get their second goal, putting them up 2-1.
Tyrone was hungry for another goal starting the second half. They played much more aggressive and put more shots on goal. The Golden Eagle defense was also able to lock down the Bald Eagle’s offense. Even with Tyrone’s increased intensity, they just couldn’t get the ball in the goal. They were able to put more shots onto goal, but BEA’s goalie was able to get in front of the ball, keeping the score 2-1.
Tyrone has been playing a good, hard game of soccer, but this season they just can’t seem to get goals when they need them.
