Golden Eagles Down the Trojans

Kevin Lehner

The Tyrone Golden eagles remained perfect on the road Monday as they defeated West Branch 7-0. Kevin Lehner led the offensive charge for the Golden Eagles with 3 hits and his second home run of the season. He also dove in 5 of Tyrone’s runs.

David Lang shut down the Trojans on the mound pitching the first 4 innings only surrendering 2 hits while striking out 2. Senior Andrew Pearson came in to relieve Lang giving up only 1 hit and striking out 3.

Lehner wasn’t the only bat to show up for the Eagles as they racked upm 15 as a team. Rodney Shultz also recorded 3 hits and Andrew Pearson added 2. They also had 7 other players record a hit in the game.

The Golden Eagles scored early as they scored 2 runs in the top of the first inning. Their offense was shut down for the next two innings but came out and put up runs in 3 of the final 4 innings.

The Golden Eagle defense played like they have all year keeping the errors low and making the big plays to get out of a inning. Kevin Lehner got his first ever start in left field and he made the most of it. He caught every ball hit his way.

With the win Tyrone moves to 13-2 on the season as they begin to head down the final stretch. They take on Clearfield tomorrow in a rematch that came down to the very end the last time the two teams matched up.
