The Golden Eagles took a trip to Spring Mills on Saturday morning to take on the 1-win Penns Valley Rams. Tyrone cranked out 12 runs on 13 hits to beat the Rams 12-5.
Tyrone started the game slowly. Although Brienn Jones and Landon Hamer led the game off with doubles, the Golden Eagles’ offense didn’t start to hit until the second time around the order.
Dylan Ewing made the start for Tyrone on the mound and was responsible for 5 runs that the Rams were able to tally on the scoreboard that came over his 1.2 innings pitched.
Carter Price came into the game in relief of Ewing and went 4 innings and giving up only a handful of hits.
Brandon McClure, Owen Oakes, and Lincoln Shirey all had 2 hits and were responsible for 7 of Tyrone’s 12 runs scored.
Tyrone rallied in the fourth inning when Penns Valley changed pitchers.
The Golden Eagles loaded the bases and forced a handful of walks and hits to take the lead over the Rams.
Penns Valley never recovered from this inning, but Tyrone continued their hitting tear and scored 7 more runs to close out the game with a 12-5 win.
Tyrone improved their record to 13-5 and will take on Bald Eagle Area at home on Monday, May 12.
