Tyrone boys soccer played Bishop Guilfoyle and Central last week, adding two more wins to improve to 7-1 on the season.
Tyrone 4, Bishop Guilfoyle 1
The Tyrone boys took home a 4-1 win against Bishop Guilfoyle on Tuesday.
Coming into the game, the Tyrone boys looked to continue their winning streak to fight for the first-place spot in District Six AAA.
At the start of the first half, the Tyrone boys had full possession of the ball. They refused to let BG smell any sort of attack.
Gavin Brasher poked the ball into the net off a Noah Gulvas cross for Tyrone’s first goal 16 minutes into the game.
The Golden Eagles continued to retain possession until a corner kick for the Marauders interrupted the flow. Bishop Guilfoyle scored off a corner kick when a Marauder headed the ball to the bottom left corner to tie the game at 1-1.
The Tyrone boys had a setback, but they knew that they were still in the game.
The Marauders had trouble marking Tyrone’s forwards and wingers, and chances kept presenting themselves. Finally, Tytus Novak played a through ball between BG’s centerback and leftback, leading Noah Gulvas to beat the keeper on the bottom, right corner to give Tyrone a 2-1 advantage going into halftime.
After the half, Karter Bokulich scored yet another goal off a header from a corner kick, where Tytus Novak flicked the ball into the crowded box.
Tuskovich exploited an open space where he passed the ball to Novak, leading him to the top left of the 18. Novak placed the ball around the left side of the keeper while being contested by a BG center back.
The Eagles closed out the game with a 4-1 win. The Tyrone Boys’ record improved to 6-1.
Tyrone 5, Central 0
Last Thursday, Tyrone faced off against Central on Youth Night.
Despite dominating possession, it took 30 minutes for the Golden Eagles to open the scoring. Noah Gulvas found Titus Novak for a shot from the right side of the 18, which resulted in a goal.
That was it for scoring, and the half closed out 1-0.
Bellwood’s Cam Neslon scored his first varsity goal off a header in the second half. Nelson increased the lead to 2-0.
More goals started to pour in when Tuskovich shot an absolute rocket on frame and delivered his first of the game. 3-0
Eight minutes later, Novak chipped the ball into the box, where Bokulich connected with the ball off a header. 4-0
Tyrone scored yet another goal when Cam Coffey had his first of the season from a shot outside of the 18.
The final result was a 5-0 Eagles win.
An honorable mention to the Golden Eagles’ backline, where they were the first team to shut Central out this season.
