Girls Soccer Falls to Bellefonte 4-1
Tyrone lgot off to a poor start against Bellefonte, giving up three goals in first half, but became more defensively strong in the second half. But the damage had already been done as the Lady Eagles fell to Bellefonte 4-1.
Bellefonte ruled the game in the first half with lots of offensive opportunities and three goals. Bellefonte’s Mallorie Smith had two goals in the half and a hat trick in the game. Although Smith was the one to score, Bellefonte possessed the ball mostly on Tyrone’s side. Tyrone had lost some intensity from the game before but brought it back in the second half.
“They’re a really good team, and I feel like we underestimated them after finding out their stats.” said junior Madison Soellner
Five minutes into the second half, Kendall Markley possessed the ball right outside of the 18 and crossed it into the box for Aaryanna Wright to put past the goalie for Tyrone’s only goal of the game.
Tyrone had very little chances with shots due to a high pressed back line for Bellefonte. Tyrone’s offense was called offsides fives times, and this cause many missed opportunities for Tyrone to come back. Tyrone had three shots on goal compared to Bellefonte’s 11.
Tyrone hopes to pick up the intensity for the next game and the next time they play Bellefonte.
Tyrone’s next game is Monday, September 17 at Bald Eagle at 6 pm.
