The Eagle’s Closet at Tyrone Area Middle and High School has almost 60 brand new formal dresses in stock and available for free to any student in need, courtesy of Envie Fashion and Formals of Tyrone.
“Mrs. Miller, one of our paraprofessionals, was our connection to make this happen,” Guidance Councelor Matt Kimberlin said.
Miller contacted Tammy Huff, the owner of Envie Fashion and Formals in downtown Tyrone. Her store is by appointment only, and she makes sure that no one at the same school has the same dress.
Huff donated 57 dresses to the Eagle’s Closet.
This large donation made it possible for the Eagles Closet to offer a wide selection of colors, styles, and sizes.
“There are a lot of beautiful dresses available for students, and all of them are brand new with tags on them. Any student who wants or needs address is more than welcome to connect with us and get addressed for whatever occasion they want,” Kimberlin said.
To get a dress, students should contact guidance counselors April Campbell or Matt Kimberlin in the Middle School Guidance Office. Students can also email Campbell or Kimberlin to set up a time and date that works for them to look at the dresses.
“We are going to have some time that they can come up from 7:30 to 8:15 am in the mornings, probably sometime next week. But honestly, if [that doesn’t work for them and] they just come up and want to see the dresses, they can see them,” Campbell said.
The Eagle’s Closet is a free shop with a wide variety of items like hygiene products, clothes, shoes, and other accessories. All items at the Eagle’s Closet are donated and are available to any student for free.
“The Eagle’s Closet is a project that our counselors put together where we collect donated clothes, hygiene products, shoes, all sorts of things for students who are in need. This has been happening for about four or five years in our building, but it wasn’t until last year that we were able to identify a specific space to make this happen,” Kimberlin said.
The Eagle’s Closet is located in the upstairs Middle School hallway, just around the corner from the guidance office.
