Sophomore Coy Focht is mobbed by his teammates as he crosses the plate following his solo homer in the top of the 8th inning vs. Clearfield

A game that featured five lead changes between Tyrone and Clearfield ended with a bang for the Golden Eagles.

Sophomore Coy Focht hit the first home run of his high school career in the top of the eighth inning, breaking a 2-2 tie.

Focht’s home run was especially well timed.  Tyrone took a one run lead into the bottom of the sixth; however Clearfield scored, sending the game into the extra frame.

Focht had a big day at the plate, going 2-4 with an RBI and one solo homer.

“It brought a huge smile when I saw it go over.” said Focht. “I was thinking about it right before, but I never expected it. Jake Dorminy called it as soon as I got up to bat. He told Brad Wirtner that I was going to put it over.”

“Both teams were battling to get hits, but no one could score. After Coy hit the home run, Tristan [Lingafelt] was able to finish the game with three quick outs.” said senior Jordan Miller.

“Coy’s hit looked to be a pop up, but the wind kept carrying it. The ball flew over the fence and we all ran out to home plate, almost tackling Coy,” said Lingafelt.

Miller was the starting pitcher for Tyrone.  He struck out six batters, gave up three hits and allowed one run in five innings pitched.

Lingafelt came in relief of Miller in the sixth, and allowed one run in three innings pitched.
