In a heartwarming display of community spirit, members of the Tyrone Area FFA spent TAHS’s annual Community Service Day with residents at Cedarwood Rehabilitation and Health Center in Tyrone.
The group’s main objectives were to enhance connections within the local community and help spruce up the exterior of the facilities in preparation for spring.
The initiative was part of the Tyrone Area High School Community Service event.
A total of twenty-seven FFA members and their FFA advisors enthusiastically took part in the day’s events.
The members chose to dedicate their day to activities including personalized fairy or succulent gardens, painting rocks, sweeping the parking lot, cleaning the greenhouse, and tidying up the surroundings by picking up sticks and other items.
“I thought it was pretty cool to work with the residents and make them happy. I would do it again,” sophomore Kayden Ansman said.
The day was filled with smiles and laughter, as both students and residents savored the moments shared. The interaction led to meaningful connections being formed and lasting memories being created.
“It was a great experience for us to get out in the community and connect with the residents that normally don’t have many visitors,” sophomore Reilly Rawlings said.
The uplifting event not only benefited the residents but also left a positive impact on the students, reinforcing the importance of community involvement and compassion.
In an effort to deepen their understanding of the community and the value of service learning, the FFA Citizenship Committee plans to organize a series of engaging activities with the residents of Cedarwood Rehabilitation and Health Center.
