It took just 14 seconds for Tyrone’s Gavin Tuskovich to shatter the school record for fastest goal, sparking the Eagles to a commanding 6–0 win over Richland and their third consecutive victory of the season.
“It was a dominating performance. Our team was outstanding the entire game. We wanted to make this game a statement game to put everyone in the Laurel Highlands on watch for this team this season,” Tyrone Head Coach Alex Bartlett said.
Tuskovich’s early goal shattered the school record for the fastest goal scored, which was previously held by Tyrone’s Karter Bokulich at 64 seconds.
After the next kickoff, the boys came out searching for another goal. Tyrone kept the ball within Richland’s defending third, and the Tyrone backline prevented Richland from leaving their half.
With 20 minutes left in the first half, Bellwood’s Noah Gulvas crossed the ball into the six off of a corner kick, and Tuskovich headed the ball into the goal for a 2-0 lead.
It was only until ten minutes later that Tuskovich exposed the Richland backline with a cross in front of the six, and Tytus Novak found the left side net for the first of his three goals in the game.
The half ended with a 3-0 Tyrone lead.
Coming into the second half, Tyrone knew not to let up against Richland.
Starting fast has been one of Tyrone’s strengths this season. This leads to the establishment of the tempo and tone for the game.
Tyrone found another goal within five minutes of the second half. Novak used his technical skills to free up space for a bottom left shot outside the 18.
Just 30 seconds after the next kickoff, Caleb Posnett bolted down the right side of the field and cut in across the 18. Posnett passed to Novak, who took a touch around Richland’s goalkeeper and scored top right. Novak gained a hat trick for the game.
With about 20 minutes remaining in the game, Tyrone capitalized on a corner. Gulvas crossed the ball inside the six, and Rowan Moore scored a left-footed goal.
The Tyrone Boys closed out the rest of the game and kept a clean sheet.
Tyrone’s record now stands at 3-0. On Thursday, September 4th, the Eagles play Forest Hills (1-2-0) away at 7 p.m.
