Facebook Trivia to Honorable Book

Three Tyrone Class of 1984 graduates have recently self-published a Holiday Trivia Book in memory of one their classmates. All proceeds will help fund a memorial scholarship for Tyrone seniors.

Classmates Matt Swayne, Jennifer Chuang, and Craig Weyant have worked together for over a year to produce this Christmas trivia book dedicated to their friend Amy Emenhiser, who recently passed away after years of health issues.

Over the years, the friends kept in touch over Facebook.  Amy was a big reason these friends stayed together even though they all moved to different cities. Swayne currently lives in State College, PA, Chuang  in West Chester, PA, and Weyant lives in Atlanta, GA.

“[Amy] really cared about her classmates,” says Swayne.  According to Swayne, she was a person who could brighten anyone’s day within seconds of talking to her.

Amy’s legacy continued on Facebook. Amy’s followers loved playing her trivia games.

“Correct answers were rewarded with an enthusiastic reply of ‘Ding, ding ding!'” said Swayne. The questions were enjoyable and fun. This is the main reason her friends wanted to keep her tradition going through the form of a book.

When creating the book, they added new trivia questions and incorporated them in with Amy’s. Swyane says the book “was a Golden Eagle effort.”

Another big reason the book was written is to fund their alma mater’s Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship was created in 2015 to serve the memorial of deceased alumni. The money raised is awarded to a Tyrone graduate each year. The graduate does not have to plan on going to college. Applications for the scholarship can be found in the guidance office starting in 2017.

The first scholarship award was given to 2016 graduate, Kacey Poorman.

Altogether, they hope to sell many copies of the book so that Amy can be remembered by all and to raise money for their scholarship.

The book can be purchased at Gardner’s Candies, the Tyrone Chamber of Commerce office and Amazon, and all profits are to be donated to the “Soar with ’84” scholarship, which is given to one graduating Tyrone senior. To order the book online click HERE.
