The 9-1 Penn State Nittany Lions will take on the undefeated 10-0 Ohio State Buckeyes this Saturday in one of the most anticipated games of the college football season.

There are only three undefeated teams left in the country within the top 25, which means that a one loss team can make the College Football Playoffs.  Despite Penn State’s upset loss to Minnesota two weeks ago, the list of teams that can make the playoff still includes Penn State, but only if they can knock off the heavily favored Buckeyes.

The PSU-OSU match-up started back in November of 1912, when the teams played against each other for the first time. Penn State took their biggest win of the rivalry beating Ohio 37-0.

The teams only faced off seven times between 1912 and 1993 until Penn State joined the BigTen. Penn State and Ohio State have played every year since 1993.

Ohio State has taken the last two years from the Nittany Lions, and are looking for revenge. The game will take place in Ohio at the Horseshoe, giving Ohio the home-field advantage.

According to ESPN’s Football Power Index Penn State has only a 15.8% chance of winning. So the Nittany Lions will have to be on top of their game to pull this one off.

Ohio is averaging 51.5 points per game this season to Penn State’s 36.8. Also, Ohio is giving up an average of 9.8 points per game to Penn State’s 13.5. The statistics are in Ohio’s favor, but statistics don’t determine what happens on game day.
