Eleven Tyrone Students Advance to FBLA States
Ten FBLA members will be moving on to states held in Hershey, PA from April 3rd to the 5th
Tyrone’s Future Business Leaders of America made a mark in the regional competition this year with an astounding eleven members moving on to states. The FBLA Club, advised by business teacher Angela Kline and finance teacher Garrett Tanner, is one of the academic clubs at Tyrone High School that has been showing real interest to Tyrone students.
According to the FBLA website, the Future Business Leaders of America is an organization for students preparing for careers in business or who are just simply interested in learning more about the free enterprise system. FBLA helps students develop leadership abilities, and prepare for entry into, and advancement within, a business or business-related occupation.
Members test in a category of their choosing to stay in the club and to have the chance to move on to states.
Most of the eleven state competitors respectively placed first in their categories:
- Jonathan Clifton – Journalism
- Sean Dawson – Health Care Administration
- Makayla Ritchey – Public Speaking II
- Gavin Crispell – Hospitality Management
- Kendall Gardner – Hospitality Management
- Nathan Hormell – Hospitality Management
- Colby Pannebaker – Sports and Entertainment Management
- Noah Welsh – Sports and Entertainment Management
- Levi Walk – Entrepreneurship
- Mackenzie Walter – Entrepreneurship
- Randi Riggleman – Business Communications (3rd place)
A handful of students who participated this year that are not moving on to states but found themselves in the top five of their respective category, includes:
- Sarah McMaslin – Global Business (2nd place)
- Meghan McMullen – Global Business (2nd place)
- Lizatia Ake – Marketing (4th place)
- Lilly Wise – Marketing (4th place)
The State Competition will be held in Hershey on April 3rd to the 5th.
