Elderquest: The Journey Ends
On May 25th, 2016, the adventure of a lifetime began for me. After two years of planning and designing and eight months of writing, editing, proofreading, and printing, my very first story was published: Elderquest: Book 1.
Never before have I ever done something like this, and I still to this day think that nothing could have come close to replacing that moment. It was then that I knew I had started down a long and enjoyable road.
More and more moments just like this came and went. Elderquest caught on and made its way to the hands of friends and family worldwide. The adventures of Tre, Kitt, Scotty, Kay, and the rest of my heroes made their way across town, across Pennsylvania, to Georgia, Oklahoma, and even to Lebanon and Kazakhstan where my aunt and uncle were deployed.
Then, after another eight months, came the arrival of the next epic chapter of the adventure: Elderquest: Book 2. Bonds were made and strengthened, hearts were broken and repaired, and there was new life breathed into the story. More and more people were drawn to the idea of a new venture, making the series spread even more. I can remember that there were tears in Book 2. Sometimes, I even felt myself tearing up at some of the moments that defined the story. I knew that there would be connections between the characters and the friends they were made out of.
Now, the final stages of Elderquest: Book 3 have begun. I knew that I wanted a trilogy. I knew that I wanted everything to finally close. Everything has to come to an end eventually. Tre and Kitt’s journey is drawing to its finale, and I wanted it to be emotional and epic at the same time. The battles, the losses, and the love have all been leading to one moment.
When I was first interviewed by the Eagle Eye when Elderquest was just beginning to become known, I was almost speechless. At the time, I never knew that it would catch so quickly, or to see it appear on the website alongside three more up and coming writers.
I have also been blessed to have such amazing friends and inspiring people to base my characters off of. I don’t know what I could have done without them.
A heartfelt and grateful thank you to everyone who made this journey possible:

I’m writing my own book called Fighting Lies and honestly, it’s quite scary trying to write a book not knowing if people will approve or not, but for the most part, I just love writing it because of my main characters and their parents, family, and friends. 🙂

My advice to you is this:
Keep writing. Don’t change your characters or plot for anything but what you think is your best, even if people think it could be strange. That’s what Taylor and I did with Elderquest. We both came up with ideas that we liked, then filed them down.
Whatever you do, don’t give up on your characters or your story!

Thank you for the advice. I’ll keep it in mind, and Elderquest sounds like something I would read.
