Eagles Take Down Bearcats to Improve to 8-2
The Eagles are 4-1 in the Mountain League
The Tyrone Boys basketball team traveled to Huntingdon through some snowy conditions on Thursday night to face another Mountain League opponent.
The Golden Eagles hit a few bumps in the second quarter and parts of the third but ultimately came out victorious, 83-60.
Senior Landen DeHaas had a game high 25 points for the Eagles, followed by Senior Cortlynd Rhoades with a personal season-high of 18 points.
Tyrone came out with a hot hand in the first quarter, putting up 24 points. Huntingdon kept pace with 20, and despite a cold second quarter, the Eagles were able to maintain the lead at halftime 43-37.
But Huntingdon came firing on all cylinders in the third to keep up with the 8-2 Golden Eagles.
Their shooting ability was solely what kept them in the game.
Ross Gampe, Keegan Gwinn, and Jake Johnson controlled the boards as three of the biggest guys on the floor. All three had 8 points and numerous rebounds. In addition, Ross Gampe took his first career charge.
The biggest part of the night was the Golden Eagles outscored the Bearcats by 19 points in the fourth quarter, 26-7, putting the Bearcats to sleep for the night.
Tyrone has also taken first place in the Mountain League, with a Clearfield team close in second whom they already beat.
The Tyrone JV also won 59-25.
The Tyrone boys are back in action on Monday at home against Bald Eagle Area.
