Tyrone swept the Bishop Guilfoyle Marauders on Tuesday, siding out easily and staying strong on defense.
The Marauders have had a tough season with a record of 1-8, and although they’ve played some good teams, they just haven’t been able to get much going.
One of the Marauder’s starters, Ava Taddei, was injured at the beginning of the season forcing them to change their lineup.
The Lady Eagles’ plan going into this match was to stay short on serve receive and be ready for some scrappy defense in the back row.
“Our team had a lot of confidence going into this match knowing that our winning streak is advancing,” sophomore Rylan Crowell said, “I think that our team stayed focused and stayed strong in serve and pass which kept the game going and didn’t allow us to get complacent.”
The Eagles won the first set 25-9, staying disciplined on defense and relying on senior setter Maddy Rockwell to run a fast and efficient offense.
The Eagles were able to keep their energy up and stay focused on serve and pass to win the second set 25-12.
Then the Eagles took the match in set three with a 25-7 win.
The Marauders just couldn’t keep up with the Eagle’s strong serves and dominant blocking hands at the net.
The Eagle’s next game is Thursday against the Richland Rams.
