Eagles Snap Losing Streak with Strong Second Half vs. BEA
Tyrone’s Dylan Thomas poured in 21 points, while Michael Lewis celebrated Senior Night with 14 points and 12 rebounds as the Eagles snapped their six game losing streak, beating Bald Eagle 77-54 on Friday night.
Thomas made five 3-pointers, and his fellow backcourt mate Jake Meredith added 18 points of his own.
The first quarter was pretty evenly matched as the teams traded buckets back and forth the whole way through ending with Tyrone leading 17-15. Tyrone failed to play the offense they wanted to in the second as they trailed 30-29 going into the half.
At halftime, Tyrone Head Coach George Gripp didn’t hold back on how he felt about the first half.
“I have never seen him like that. He was not happy at all, and he let us know,” said Meredith on Coach Gripp’s halftime speech.
The Eagles responded by outscoring Bald Eagle 20-5 in the third quarter.
Heading into the fourth, the Eagles were determined to build off of the strong third. Tyrone scored 28 points in the fourth on their way to a 77-54 victory.
A positive of the game other than the win was the Eagles foul shooting. They shot 21-28 from the line.
“We played well in the second half. I wish we wouldn’t have to get down to start playing like that,” said Gripp about his team’s performance.
Tyrone is now 10-9 and is hoping to end the season on a positive before the playoffs.
