Eagles finish regular season strong, 28-15 over Ridge
Stout defensive play guides Tyrone to another win
A hard fought game Friday night saw the Golden Eagles come out unscathed, winning 28-15 over Chestnut Ridge.
“This was a great win, just what we needed going into the playoffs,” said senior linebacker Jake Makdad, “I’m just proud of our execution on the defensive side of the football.”
Makdad and the rest of the Eagles defense were spectacular against the Lions, grabbing two takeaways and holding an offense that averaged over 200 yards rushing a game to only 10 yards on twenty carries.
On the flip side, the Eagle’s offense played a grind out style, with tailback Aleic Hunter carrying a heavy load to the tune of 36 carries for 146 yards and two touchdowns.
Quarterback Garrett Hunter added 126 yards and one touchdown through the air.
“This was a good test for our offense,” said quarterback Garrett Hunter, who connected on ten of fourteen passes on the evening and also scored on a quarterback sneak at the end of the first half.
“They were great on both sides of the ball, and through both determination and preparation, we were the better team Friday night,” added G. Hunter.
The Golden Eagles turn their focus toward the first round of the playoffs, preparing for a home game against the Forest Hills Rangers this Friday night.
