Eagles dominate rival Mounties, 42-3
Monster game from Aleic Hunter powers Eagles to victory
Tyrone’s offense hummed like a well oiled machine last Friday against the Mounties of Philipsburg, putting up an intimidating thirty five points in the first half.
Due in large part to an effective ground game, Tyrone finished with forty two points overall, winning 42-3.
“We were running on all cylinders Friday night. It seemed like every time I touched the ball, blockers down field opened up gaping holes for me to run through,” said senior running back Aleic Hunter.
Hunter finished the day with only five carries, in which he netted a staggering ninety one yards and three rushing touchdowns.
“I have God to thank for allowing me to perform at my highest level,” said Hunter.
Starting quarterback Garrett Hunter and back up Drew Hunter also contributed touchdowns through the air. G. Hunter found Nick Getz for a twenty seven yard score and D. Hunter connected with Dwayne Boone from ten yards out as well. This spotted Tyrone a 35-3 halftime lead.
Philipsburg’s only score came by way of an impressive forty one yard field goal from Nick Boumerhi.
Aside from an Eli Sleeth touchdown run, no points were produced from either side in the second half. The final score read 42-3, with Tyrone’s defense keeping the Mounties at bay all game.
Tyrone held Philipsburg to eleven total rushing yards in the game.
Corner Cullen Raftery also added an interception.
This week Tyrone goes up against the Red Raiders of Bellefonte, looking to keep their undefeated season alive.
