In the 2023-2024 school year, the Tyrone Eagle Eye sponsored a food drive to help out the Tyrone Area Food Bank. They were hitting a spike in households that were visiting the food bank in desperate need of food during the holiday season. Because the food drive was such a huge success and hit last year, Eagle Eye has decided to do it again!
The food drive will begin October 28 and end November 8 in the Tyrone Middle and High School. Donations will be collected in homeroom classrooms.
The homeroom in the Middle and High School with the most donations will get a box full of donuts courtesy of the Eagle Eye.
Cash donations are also needed and can be made in the Middle or High School Main Office.
This year, the food drive is being run and organized by the following juniors in the fifth-period Eagle Eye class: Nicole Ramsey, Sidney Goodwin, Alyssa Houck, and Claire Lehman.
“We decided to do the food drive again because it was such a big success and it really helped out the community during the holiday season. We are hoping to have an even better donation amount this year and it’s a really good cause to give back to the community,” Houck said.
The food bank is in the most need of cereal and canned soup, but any of the non perishable items listed below will be accepted:
Canned pasta (ravioli, spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna)
Peanut butter
Jelly
Noodles
Macaroni & cheese
Hamburger Helper
Spaghetti and dried pasta
