Dragons Hit Hard and Defeat Eagles
Tuesday evening the boys baseball team traveled to Central to face one of the best teams in the area.
Tyrone’s coaches couldn’t have asked for a better start as the boys scored in their first inning. Gary Weaver reached base on a walk and Brian Gunter smashed Weaver home after hitting a double.
After that, Tyrone’s production slowed and pitcher Alex Weaver was left hanging curveballs to some of the best hitters in the league.
Alex Weaver pitched valiantly but Central got rolling and ended the game with 21 hits.
Several Central players hit doubles and triples and cracked the game open in early innings.
Tyrone stopped the bleeding after the 3rd inning and mounted a 3 run comeback to close the gap to 10-4.
Central came back with a vengeance and after a scoreless inning from both teams Central scored 4 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to complete the mercy rule.
Tyrone plays next at home against Huntingdon on Friday afternoon.
