Senior outside hitter, Rylan Crowell, earned her 500th kill of her varsity career at home vs. Clearfield on August 26th.
This is a major milestone that makes her only the fourth person in Tyrone history to accomplish this great feat. Crowell joins former Lady Eagles Makenna Bauer, Kylie Gooding, and Reagan Irons on the school’s 500 kill list.
“It’s definitely a cool and surreal moment. I’ve always wanted this to accomplish a goal like this in my high school career, and I’m so glad I get to experience it with the people I do,” said Crowell.
Although this is a great accomplishment, it has been a long road for Crowell to get to where she is today. Crowell has played for eight years through middle school, club, and now she is entering her final high school season.
Volleyball has been a big part of her life and has been a passion of hers forever. Her drive and ambition on the court has led her to this impressive achievement.
“I think Rylan puts an immense amount of work in during practice and always holds herself to the highest standard,” said sophomore teammate Amaya Martin.
Her future plans are to attend Saint Francis University and major in nursing. She also hopes to continue her love and passion for volleyball after her varsity years come to an end.
“I’m super proud of her. It’s not something that many people get to experience and I know that she has worked really hard to accomplish getting to this point,” said head coach Alesha Weaver.
Crowell attributes her success today to her friends and teammates she’s been with along the way.
“Ultimately I wouldn’t have been able to be as successful if it wasn’t for the girls that came into the gym with me for so many years,” Crowell said.
Crowell is a part of one of the largest senior classes the Tyrone volleyball program has ever graduated and all of her fellow seniors, teammates, and coaches are so happy for her and couldn’t be more proud of her hard work.
“It was very satisfying watching Rylan get her 500 kills because this is something we both have been talking about since we were in 5th grade,” said senior teammate Abby Anthony, “to see her accomplish this is bitter sweet knowing it’s our last season together.”
