The 2015 Golden Eagle Cross Country is living up to the hype so far this season. A deep boys squad with returning talent has powered their way to a 4-1 record to start the year.

“Our boys team is really coming on this year,” said Head Coach Tammy Wills. “They’re really focused and determined to be at their very best this season. This is one of the best teams we’ve had here at Tyrone.”

Sophomore Joe Kohler has been the star of the currently 2nd ranked team in District 6. His season best time of 17:58 and course best time of 18:14 has guided him to victory in all five duel meets this season and put him in position to be Mountain League MVP.

Senior Adam Zook and Freshman Zach Kohler have followed closely behind. Zook has ran the home course in 18:58 and a season best time of 18:24. Z. Kohler has been impressive so far, running a solid 19:01 for his best time so far.

The girl’s Cross Country team has struggled due to a lack of depth. Often only having four runners, their scores were negated and has led to a win-less season so far.

Despite this, several girls have ran very well throughout the season so far. Junior Cassie Friday has been the most successful, with an impressive time of 22:58. Fellow Junior Sean Dawson has impressed as well, running a season best of 23:54.

Kohler and Friday brought home hardware at the Big Valley Invitational earlier in the month, finishing 8th and 6th overall respectively. Zook joined Kohler last weekend at the Altoona Invitational, each bringing home a medal.

Both the boys and girls are poised as the season reaches it’s midpoint; gearing up to finish strong.
