The Tyrone Area Cross Country teams are off to a promising start this season. After four meets, the boys are undefeated at 4-0 and the girls are at 2-4.
Freshman Aiden Luther has high hopes for the team’s success throughout the rest of the season and at districts.
“[I think it’s going] pretty well. I have been setting new PR’s this season and our team is doing very well. The team has been shaving times and we have a lot of new runners for the season,” Luther said.
Luther also singled out freshman Nick Sutt as someone who has been improving a lot this season and had a good performance at the Big Valley Invitational.
“Last season, Nick had an issue with his running and his times were high. This season, he has greatly reduced his times and his running posture is much better. He has worked hard and is becoming much better,” Luther said.
Junior Alex Brumbaugh is one of Tyrone’s top runners and constantly finishes in the top six at races.
One of the biggest reasons runners keep coming back to Tyrone’s cross-country team is the team bonding and fun atmosphere.
“One thing I love about cross country is how relaxing it is. During the race, it is difficult to keep your pace up and not walk, but after the race it is rewarding and you feel accomplished,” said Luther.
On the boy’s side, the team is led by seniors Thomas Sutt and Aidan Detwiler, juniors Tyke Beck, Alex Brumbaugh, and Nathaniel Erickson, sophomores Andrew Detwiler, Eric Goodwin, Carter Gwinn, and Adam Ray, and freshmen Gavin Brasher, Brody Hoover, Aidan Luther, and Nicholas Sutt.
For the girls, senior Sophia Cowher, juniors Grace Corl and Hailey Loupe, sophomore Sophia Witkamp, and freshman Lillian Ammerman, Laney Corl, Kiana Gardner, Rachel Pederson, and Sophia Raneri.
