The Color Blast Community Run/Walk will return to the Tyrone Area School District campus this spring for the first time since 2019.
The one-mile or 5K race will be held on Saturday, April 29 at 9 am, beginning and ending in the Tyrone Area High School parking lot.
“We are excited that The Color Blast is coming back this year with help from the Tyrone Race Series. The local group reached out to us to bring back the run with proceeds benefiting our PBIS programs district-wide that support student and staff activities,” said Tyrone School Psychologist and Color Blast planning committee chair Kourtney Klock.
The event is open to everyone and current TASD students who want to participate can do so at a discounted price.
“What makes the Color Blast unique is the focus is on fun. There will be color stations placed throughout the course where participants are showered with non-toxic powder in a rainbow of colors. Runners and walkers are also encouraged to dress as crazy as they like, but white attire is encouraged for maximum color impact,” said race planning committee member Cummins McNitt.
The organizers also want the public to know that there will be lots to do even for those not able to run.
“The Color Blast is also more than just a run, there will be food, vendors, and activities for all ages,” said Klock.
During and following the race there will be a vendor fair, basket raffle, food trucks, face painting, balloon animals, temporary tattoos, and other activities for kids and adults.

Sign-up forms are also available at Tyrone Elementary, Middle, and High School main offices.
Everyone who registers by April 12, 2023, is guaranteed an official race shirt. Day-of race registration will also be available from 7:30 AM-8:30 AM, but same-day registration will not be guaranteed a race shirt.
Volunteers are also needed to staff the color stations and start/finish areas and to help with activities after the race.
All money raised will benefit TASD students through the district’s Positive Behavior Support Programs within the elementary, middle, and high schools.
Each school has a PBIS team made up of teachers and administrators that fund student-centered events and incentives that enhance the school climate and promote good citizenship within the school.
