As winter approaches the demand for coats and warm clothing items rises. Cold weather is just around the corner and many local children and families lack proper warm clothing to stay protected during winter.
Tyrone junior Lexi Hess and senior Kenzie Soellner are organizing a donation drive to collect gently used coats along with new hats, scarves, mittens, and gloves for local families in need this winter.
The pair got the idea when searching for ways to fulfill the community service requirement for membership in the National Honor Society.
Their goal is to have 600 donations to give back to the community.
To help students can bring donations to their advisory teacher or the Eagle Eye room from November 29th- December 20th.
If you drop your donations off the Eagle Eye be sure to share what homeroom you are coming from.
Parents and members of the community can also drop off donations between 7:30 and 4 P.M Monday- Friday in the high school main office. The advisory/homeroom class with the most donations will be rewarded with a sweet treat.
All donations will go to the Church of the Good Shepherd in Tyrone, local homeless shelters, and the Salvation Army.
Anyone from the community who also wishes to donate or has questions should contact Hess and Soellner at [email protected].
