Looking for some Halloween excitement close to home? The annual Camp Anderson FearFest is just around the corner, offering four nights of spooky, family-friendly fun.
This year’s event will take place on October 18th, 19th, 25th, and 26th, from 6 PM to 11 PM each evening. With a variety of attractions and activities for all ages, it’s a perfect way to get into the Halloween spirit.
Guests can explore the Haunted House, where every corner holds a new surprise, or take a ride through the dark on the classic Haunted Hayride. For puzzle enthusiasts, escape rooms provide a fun challenge as you race against time to solve the clues and make your way out. For a more lighthearted activity, families can enjoy some friendly competition at the Orbeez shooting range.
Camp Anderson board member and former Tyrone High School social studies teacher Cummins McNitt is one of the organizers of the event. Click the video above to see an interview with McNitt about FearFest.
“The people who do the development are really funny people. They put lots of subtle humor in each room and if you’re standing there, enjoying and watching, you will pick up a lot of cultural references and things that just make people laugh,” McNitt said.
Tickets are reasonably priced, making it an affordable night out for families and friends. Admission to the Haunted House and Hayride is $10.00, while tickets for the escape rooms or Orbeez shooting are $8.00 each.
Free parking at Smith Transportation and a complimentary shuttle service to Camp Anderson offers an easy to enjoy a stress-free evening of spooky entertainment.
In addition to welcoming visitors, Camp Anderson is also seeking volunteers to help bring the Fear Fest to life.
Organizers are in need of enthusiastic community members to assist with a wide range of roles. They are looking for builders, painters, make-up artists, cooks, tour guides, actors, ticket takers, and more. If you have a unique talent, or just want to lend a hand, there’s a spot for you.
“If a student wants to get in community service time, come out and help us set up, or come out during the event and be a scarer. There are lots of jobs to do,” McNitt said.
Volunteers will even receive meals, snacks, and access to camping areas with facilities provided from Friday through Sunday morning. Plus, high school students can earn community service hours by volunteering. This creates a great opportunity to give back while enjoying the festivities.
Whether you’re eager to face the frights as a guest or interested in playing a part behind the scenes, Camp Anderson Fear Fest offers something for everyone.
