Tyrone boys and girls cross country attended the Altoona Invitational meet on September 21.
Senior Thomas Sutt and junior Alex Brumbaugh were the best finishers for Tyrone. Both placed top twenty-five, with Sutt running an 18:29.19 and Brumbaugh running an 18:50.38.
This was a very large meet with 17 schools from all over the state in attendance.
Coach Tammy Wills felt that the invitational went very well for the Golden Eagles.
“I am very happy with how the team is doing as a whole this season. The invitational was especially a good opportunity for me to see just how far they’ve come,” Wills said.
The varsity girls also were able to perform well with freshman Sophia Raneri and Kiana Gardner both placing top fifty with Raneri running an 24:31.22 and Gardner running an 26:02.18.
Though the season is quickly coming to an end, Wills has high hopes for the rest of the season.
“We still have a few weeks until the end of the season so we have a while to go. I am very excited as to where the next few weeks take us. The kids have all been working hard, and it’s definitely not out of the question that a trip to the state meet in Hershey could be in their future,” Wills said.
The team currently has two away meets left, before they will compete in one last open invitational and then hopefully move on to districts.
