When the dust settled Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field in Bald Eagle, the Tyrone boys stood victorious over Mountain League opponents Bald Eagle and Philipsburg. This completed an impressive undefeated season for the Golden Eagles, their only blemish being a 75-75 tie with rival Bellwood-Antis.

Nick Getz was a double winner in the 100 and 200 meter dash, and along with Cameron Bakhsheshe, Parker Mitchell and Conner Harper, took first in the 4×100 meter relay. Bakhsheshe also took first in the long jump with a leap of 19’1″.

Adam Zook was a double winner as well in the 1600 and 800 meter runs. He was joined by Joe Kohler, who rounded out a distance sweep with a victory in the 3200. Dwayne Boone also won the 110 hurdles and along with Jake Makdad, Conner Harper and Cullen Raftery, took first in the 4×400 relay.

In the field Raftery won the triple jump at 39’10” and Garrett Hunter took first place in the javelin with a toss of 145’3″. Jake Meredith qualified for districts in the high jump at 5’10” and also won the meet.

The girls team struggled, losing to both teams. Makenzie Stauffer was the only winner, placing first in the 300 meter hurdles.

Four more invitationals remain for the Golden Eagles, including the district meet in May. The team looks forward to continuing their success and making a push toward a team district title and possible trips to Shippensburg for the state meet.
